How to troubleshoot when files are automatically extracted from archives downloaded via Safari

After downloading archives via Safari, the web browser, you may find that files are already extracted from the archives.

Safari can automatically open any downloaded files when they are believed to be safe. If you download archives with this function enabled, the Finder's archive utility automatically opens downloaded archives and extracts files from them.

Disable the function as shown below to have downloaded archives remain compressed.
